Participants will receive intense training from an expert faculty consisting of private voice lessons, coaching sessions, and staging while preparing for performance. Parts are still available in staged productions with orchestra for Purcell’s The Fairy Queen; Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Sondheim’s Into the Woods. Opera and Musical Theater Scenes, a Cabaret Concert and Recitals are also scheduled, as well as Masterclasses, and classes in Dance/Movement, Acting, Career Development.

Just one month until the final deadline! The JTVA Vocal Competition welcomes exceptional singing in genres from opera, oratorio and art songs, to jazz, musical theater and cabaret standards. There are no specific age, education or residency requirements. Two levels of competition based on vocal experience are offered and ALL finalists receive a cash award. Awards total nearly $20,000 and the grand prize winner will be offered an opportunity to perform with the Oakland East Bay Symphony under music director Michael Morgan.
