Ever wondered what it would take to get a new program up and running? We sat down with conductor John Nardolillo, founder of the Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival and Orchestra director at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, to discuss what inspired the inception of this new and exciting opportunity, and the steps required to bring a new program together.

Announcing a new Voice Category for the 2015 National Young Artist Competition, Sponsored by PepsiCo! OperaWorks Advanced and Emerging Artist Programs target all three aspects of being a professional singer: singer, entrepreneur, and human. Now in its eighth year, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (LOSW) will present seven performances of Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor in Theater Rudolstadt’s 2015 mainstage season. This is a new production – with professionally designed sets and costumes created especially for LOSW. Participants will sing a full role in multiple performances, accompanied by the Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, conducted by Maestro Oliver Weder, with stage direction by LOSW General Director Damon Nestor Ploumis. Apply today for the ACPC Sembrich Vocal Competition for singers of Polish descent: the deadline to apply is April 15. $2,000 First Prize offered to singers to age 35 in early stages of their vocal career. The International Opera Academy (IOA) offers an affordable 2 year postgraduate programme to help prepare young singers and accompanist repetiteurs for the complex job awaiting them in the opera world. Students are intensively prepared for professional practice and auditions through targeted courses with performing artists, and they benefit from the IOA's affiliation with several major European houses. Audition dates and deadlines are approaching: appointments are still available in Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Manchester, Essen, London, Lisbon, Helsinki and Ghent. Preliminary selections begin in December; the best participants will go through to a final round to work with our teachers (April 20-24, 2015).
