The Dallas Opera Guild prepares for the most exciting vocal competition in its history! Besides significant cash prizes and the extraordinary opportunity to perform before an influential world-class panel of judges, chaired by Dr. Brian Zeger, a major innovation this year is the introduction of an orchestral accompaniment for the Finals Round. Competing artists will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Dallas Opera Orchestra led by internationally renowned Music Director Emmanuel Villaume, recently praised by The New York Times for his conducting of the prestigious 2014 Richard Tucker Music Foundation Gala. Experience conservatory-style living in an intimate, challenging, and supportive learning environment. Participants in this two-week intensive course receive personalized attention from faculty of the vocal studies department at the Curtis Institute of Music, including a unique opportunity to spend time with faculty during meals and unscheduled portions of the day. Participants rehearse and perform alongside their musical peers in opera scenes, opera workshop and production, interactive classes daily master classes, collaboration through opera and lieder and private lessons. Participants live, share meals, and practice in Curtis’s historic main building and the beautiful new Lenfest Hall.
The 2015 SummerFest Young Artist Training Program applications are now open. A combined professional training & performing program that takes place in Pittsburgh for a minimum 4-6 weeks (depending on casting) from June 15 – July 26 2015. Four levels available: Resident, Featured, Young & Apprentice Artists with opportunities for solo performance for all participants. WNO Opera Institute at American University: For singers ages 15-18 June 22 - July 11, 2015 This three-week summer program brings passionate, talented young musicians (ages 15-18) together in the nation's capital to experience opera in a professional and nurturing environment that only a world-class opera company can provide. Dedicated classical singers thrive from Opera Institute's intense and focused curriculum, which is designed to prepare students for college performance programs and beyond. Students study opera history, Italian diction, music theory, and acting; receive voice lessons and coachings; and participate in career development workshops and master classes with professionals in the field. The Performance Program runs between April and early November each year. The Opera Studio Melbourne makes no distinction between learning, training and opera-making. All our activities feed into a collection of tools for performance. The program operates as a repertory company, with an emphasis on theatrical performance in all contexts, with preparation time, rehearsal and performance tailored to suit the current company of singers of the Studio. 2015 will be a very exciting season for Chicago Summer Opera. Season will include Suor Angelica (Puccini) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten). All principal, supporting and cover role assignments will be cast from our auditions and each program participant will receive a role. Utah Opera's Resident Artist Program for singers and pianists provides an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months with Utah Opera developing professional skills through Mainstage performances with Utah Opera and Utah Symphony, coachings, workshops, yoga, and master classes.
