Overview of the 2015 Spring Into Song Master Class Program:
April 11th at 3:30pm - “Crossovers in the Concert Hall Master Class” with the author of Song: A Guide to Art Song Style & Literature and Art Song: Linking Poetry & Music, Carol Kimball at 244 Rehearsal Studios (Garnier Hall).
April 18th at 1pm – “The Songs of Richard Strauss Master Class” with internationally established pianist, Mark Markham at the National Opera America Center. Mark Markham has spent close to 20 years as the pianist to famed American soprano, Jessye Norman.
April 25th at 1pm – “French Song Master Class - Mélodies set to the Symbolist Poems of Baudelaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud, and Mallarmé” with Tom Grubb at the National Opera America Center. Grubb has collaborated with Elly Ameling, Pierre Bernac, Dawn Upshaw, Benita Valente and more!
May 2nd at 1pm – “Song Master Class” with Joan Dornemann at the National Opera America Center. Dornemann is the Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera and the Co-founder & Artistic Director of The International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI). She has collaborated with Luciano Pavorotti, Placido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé, Mirella Freni, José Carreras, Sherrill Milnes, Kiri Te Kanawa, Renée Fleming, Deborah Voigt, Neil Shicoff, Juan Diego Flórez, and Anna Netrebko, among others.
May 9th at 1pm – “European Art Song Master Class” with Thomas Muraco at the National Opera America Center. Muraco has collaborated with John Aler, Martina Arroyo, Denyce Graves, Ben Heppner and more!
May 16th at 1pm – “The Mélodies of Maurice Ravel Master Class” with the legendary pianist, Dalton Baldwin, at the National Opera America Center. Baldwin has collaborated with Gérard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Arleen Auger, Jessye Norman, Jose Van Dam and more!
Overview of the 2015 Spring Into Song Recital Series:
March 21st at 2pm – NYC debut recital by French mezzo-soprano Virginie Verrez & Thomas Muraco (piano) – National Opera America Center, - Ms. Verrez is the 2014 winner of the Mary Trueman Art Song Vocal Competition sponsored by The Art Song Preservation Society (ASPS).
April 10th at 8pm - French Song recital featuring various emerging recitalists in collaboration with the famed pianist and author of Singing in French: A Singer’s Manual of French Diction & French Vocal Repertoire, Thomas Grubb at La Maison Française of NYU.
May 10th at 2pm – German Song recital featuring various emerging recitalists in collaboration with celebrated pianist, Thomas Muraco at the National Opera America Center.
