The Tomita Young Artist training program is intended for singers and pianists with outstanding potential to have the opportunity to perform alongside FLO's professional artists during the summer season (July 8 - August 8); plus the possibility of an additional commitment for one week TBD. The 2021 season features fully staged productions including The Barber of Seville, a children's opera, and an opera scenes concert, as well as a concert of opera arias, ensembles, and musical theatre selections with the Finger Lakes Opera Orchestra.  All participants are paid a weekly stipend, a travel stipend, and are provided housing. Auditions will be held virtually this season via YAP Tracker. Deadline: January 4.

A nine-month tuition-funded high ability training programme in opera designed to support singers and répétiteurs of exceptional talent at the initial stages of their career. The Georg Solti Accademia's Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course offers a fully-funded 8-day course every year to six outstanding young pianists. The Houston Saengerbund is a private, charitable foundation in Houston, TX whose mission is to support and encourage German music, language, and culture.  Each year the foundation sponsors a vocal competition for rising professional singers on the brink of a solo career.  Past judges have come from the ranks of professional opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera and the Houston Grand Opera, major Conservatories, and professional classical singing artists.  Past winners have gone on to significant opportunities with major US houses. Opera North's 2021 summer season includes Puccini's La Bohème, 'Extraordinary Women’ (a showcase of extended scenes from Baroque and modern opera), and a concert of opera and music theater selections with orchestra and circus artists, all under tents at Opera North's new outdoor art park at Blow-Me-Down Farm. Some of the musical coaching will take place over Zoom prior to the artists' arrival at Opera North. Singers accepted for the program must be available at mutually-agreed upon times between June 27-July 15 for virtual coachings ahead of the three-week residency. Housing, travel, and stipend provided!
