This online competition will be held in April and May 2021, culminating in an online master class and livestreamed awards ceremony on May 22, 2021. SVC Undergraduate Awards will feature 4 WINNERS, each with a $5,000 cash award! Additional cash awards for Finalists and Encouragement. Applications will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply Today for the 2021 Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition. The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $40,000 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The 2021 Jensen Competition is 100% virtual. Our competition environment is well-organized and supportive. Preliminary judges choose twelve finalists, based on their video-auditions, and then Finals Judges, who are distinguished in the world of opera, choose winners based on video-auditions. The Schmidt Vocal Institute (SVI) nurtures and mentors the development of talented high school singers who wish to pursue studies in music performance or education. The curriculum focuses on training singers to have a healthy technique, improved musicianship, and outstanding performance skills. 2021 Participants of SVI will receive: Master Classes or private coachings with distinguished guest faculty Denyce Graves (Metropolitan Opera), J.J. Bologna International Opera Academy (BIOA) is an intensive top-rated summer program located in one of the most enchanting and vibrant cities in Italy. Classic Lyric Arts 2021 features two intensive and immersive summer programs held in New Lebanon, NY. Participants receive daily coachings, rehearsals, and language classes with our esteemed European and American faculty. Session I - French Repertoire: 6/28 - 7/12 is dedicated to exploring the traditions and nuances of singing French opera and mélodie. Session II - Italian Repertoire: 7/26 - 8/9 develops skills of bel canto repertoire: lyric diction, phrasing, style, dramatic presentation, and the musical elements of the Italian language.
