Canta in Italia "Sing in Italy": Experience Tuscany. Now entering its 15th summer of study abroad, Canta in Italia offers singers the unforgettable experience of living and studying in the beautiful Tuscan city of Lucca. Located 45 minutes west of Florence, the city where opera was born, Lucca offers a small town experience and easy access to Italy's major cultural center. Lucca, known in Italy as "the musical city", is the birthplace Puccini, Boccherini and Catalani. From June 3 to June 29, students are immersed in Italian language, culture, and are stimulated by an intensive course of vocal study, daily voice lessons, coaching, master classes, 2 hours of daily Italian instruction by native speakers, and 2 concerts.
Applications are now open for the NGF Summer School 2019, a 10-day intensive training & performance programme, and for two cover roles as part of New Generation Festival 2019 taking place in Florence, in association with Mascarade Opera Studio. Participants study with leading professional voice teachers and coaches from major UK conservatoires & training institutions. Daily in-depth individual coaching sessions & voice lessons are supplemented with masterclasses, performance psychology & career management workshops, a public concert & the opportunity to audition for cover roles for NGF's 2020 production. Participants will perform in the chorus of NGF's production of Le nozze di Figaro, with two cover roles available for the production.

Deadline Approaching: Apply Today for the 2019 Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition. The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $41,500 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The 2019 competition takes place at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City May 13-18. The singing environment is well-organized and supportive with professional accompanists and preliminary judges. Twelve finalists are chosen to perform before the Finals Judges who are distinguished in the world of opera. After the competition, finalists may request feedback from the judges.
