The Elizabeth Connell Prize International Singing Competition for Sopranos
Open to all sopranos aged 25-34 as at 1 April 2019.
All repertoire accepted.
Applications will close 15 April 2019
$44,000 in prize money + $10,000 in travel allowance to Sydney for Finalists.
Finalists will be billeted with host families for the week of the competition.
Round 1: DVD/Mp4 video links of 2 arias. Semi FInalists will be chosen from this round to perform in Round 2 live auditions.

Repertoire: Entrants are encouraged to present repertoire that is suited to their ability and age. The competition is looking for sopranos who show the potential to sing dramatically as well as lyrically. You do not have to be singing the dramatic repertoire now.
Round 1: Video of two contrasting arias.
Round 2: Entrants must present 5 arias. 1 aria must be by either Puccini, Verdi, R Strauss OR Wagner. Entrants must have 1 aria in Italian and 1 aria in German in their list of 5 arias. Entrants may sing multiple arias by the same composer but do not have to sing an aria by each of the composers listed, just one of them.
