The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $41,500 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The 2019 competition takes place at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City May 13-18. The singing environment is well-organized and supportive with professional accompanists and preliminary judges. Twelve finalists are chosen to perform before the Finals Judges who are distinguished in the world of opera. After the competition, finalists may request feedback from the judges. CT Lyric Opera and the CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra are pleased to announce the 5th Season of their summer program, the Greve Opera Academy and Music Festival in the Chianti region of Tuscany. Running from June 10 - July 6, the Academy will feature fully staged productions with orchestra of Puccini's Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi as well as other concerts and recitals in Greve and Florence. The Academy also includes excursions, Italian language, vocal technique, coachings, acting and more, including masterclasses with world-renowned soprano Katia Ricciarelli. Many participants have gone on to perform with CLO back in the US in main-stage or Young Artist Program productions. Live auditions in NYC as well as submitted materials accepted.
