Be inspired: Brevard Music Center's Janiec Opera Company 2018

Each summer the opera program at Brevard Music Center enrolls approximately 30 singers who, together, constitute the Janiec Opera Company. Students receive daily coaching, participate in masterclasses, and rehearse their roles under the close instruction of seasoned professionals in the opera world. All productions utilize professional directors, designers, costumers. Our 2018 season includes fully-staged productions of Madama Butterfly, La Cenerentola, and Candide. The season closes with the Bernstein Mass, conducted by Brevard’s artistic director, Keith Lockhart. Practice your craft and develop your skills in a picturesque rehearsal studio – in nature, beside the lake, amongst the white pines, alongside the stream. Be inspired. Be here.

Two great programs in beautiful locations: 2018 Canto Vocal Programs in Toulouse and Zagreb!

Canto Vocal Programs offers intensive programs in Toulouse (April) and Zagreb (July) offering musical and dramatic coaching, voice lessons, small performance classes and a final gala concert. This coming April 16-28 in Toulouse singers have the opportunity to work with artists from the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Les Maîtres Sonneurs. This year, in addition to the regular program we are adding a Role Study track: a cast of selected singers will be working on Così fan tutte. We also encourage singers interested in role study to suggest a role they would like to work on individually. Now accepting applications for Canto-Toulouse.

Incredible new competition: Hong Kong International Operatic Singing Competition 2018

Presented and organised by Musica Viva Limited, the Hong Kong International Operatic Singing Competition 2018 is the first major event of its kind scheduled to take place in Hong Kong from 28th June to 2nd July in 2018. This competition is open to young professional artists and recent graduates and trainees in the art of western operatic singing of all nationalities. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old (as of 30 June 2018). The international jury for the competition consists of renowned artists who have performed in all the great opera houses of the world and senior arts administrators who are held in high esteem in the profession. The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival is accepting applications for its upcoming season in paradise. The 2018 season features Handel’s Alcina, Adamo’s Little Women, and Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. Miami Wagner Institute live audition application deadline is 2 days away on November 29th! TUITION-FREE PROGRAM! The Miami Wagner Institute is an elite young artist program and the first of its kind specifically for Wagnerian dramatic and lyric-in- transition singers. The Institute provides training as well as professional-level performance opportunities that prepare singers for the unique demands of the Wagnerian and dramatic repertoire. During this intensive program, participants prepare and perform with faculty in a staged and costumed Wagnerian production with orchestra, while undertaking a curriculum of voice instruction, coachings, and masterclasses. Faculty of the Miami Wagner Institute include Christine Goerke, Alan Held, Robert Morrison and Michael Rossi.

a bachelor of music in voice. The course focuses on the integration of singing and acting. Therefore, great technical mastery of the vocal instrument is essential.
