The ILA Musical Theater Summer Training Program (MTSTP) is a professional, intense environment in which 30 Musical Theater performers High School through Adult hone their skills on stage, in showcases, in the studio and in seminars while in Italy. This unique opportunity to bring Musical Theater to an international audience while studying with some of the finest faculty in the world. The MTSTP trains students in courses such as Acting/Scene Study, Musical Scene Study, Vocal Performance, Vocal Technique, Dance Program, Audition Technique, and the Business of Theatre. Free the body, free the breath, free the voice! Respiro Opera, NYC is an intensive training program designed to aid the artistic development of the emerging young professional. Classes focus on the breath and physical freedom with hands on Alexander Technique, Body Mapping, and Yoga specifically tailored for singers. The Academy of the Vocal Arts is the only nationally accredited conservatory in the United States exclusively devoted to the training of young opera singers, tuition-free. Artists from throughout the states and all over the world audition to study and perform in AVA’s four-year program. Come to the heart of Tuscany and have an unparalleled opportunity to study and perform Musical Theater, Mozart’s REQUIEM, Puccini’s GIANNI SCHICCHI and an evening of Italian art songs. The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $41,500 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The competition takes place at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City May 21-26. The singing environment is well-organized and supportive with professional accompanists and preliminary judges. Twelve finalists are chosen to perform before the Finals Judges who are distinguished in the world of opera. After the competition, finalists may request feedback from the judges.
