Manhattan Opera Studio, the Summer Program that brings you to Carnegie Hall announces auditions for the 2018 Summer Festival. We are celebrating our 5th anniversary with new productions to be staged and performed with the MOS Orchestra. From June 4th till August 1st, selected singers will participate in a full opera production, aria concerts, coachings and masterclasses with some of the most prestigious opera professionals in New York City. Our visiting artists and faculty have worked at the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls and work one-on-one with young artists to "Train through Performance". Young artists from top conservatories and schools of music in the United States and abroad are chosen to come together in the heart of Tuscany for an intensive four-week program that combines language and musical study with Italian cultural immersion. Program participants work closely with a faculty of internationally distinguished artists, teachers, coaches, conductors, and stage directors, and may earn up to six Oberlin College credits with successful course completion. PARTNERS for the Arts 6th Vocal Awards Competition: APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 23, 2018. This competition is open to singers ages 25 to 35 and it will take place on April 14 and 15 in Alexandria, VA, just minutes away from mid-town Washington, D.C. Two weeks left to apply to the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition! 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the Lotte Lenya Competition! Over the last twenty years, the LLC has grown from a small contest exclusively for students of the Eastman School of Music to one of the widest-reaching international vocal competitions. Singer/actors ages 19-32 from all over the world will compete for top prizes of $20,000, $15,000, and $10,000. Additional awards range from $500 to $5,000, including the Kurt Weill Award of $5,000 for an outstanding performance of two contrasting selections by Kurt Weill. For singers and pianists in residence in Florence, Italy; the opportunity to immerse oneself in the study of Bel Canto, a style of singing and playing rich in vocal and orchestral traditions handed down from generation to generation. Participants study with internationally renowned faculty who perform, teach, and coach at the leading opera houses of the world. June 25– July 21, 2018. Bel Canto Institute features two tracks: The Youth Division Summer Program (ages 15-17) and the Summer Program (ages 18+). Both tracks are eligible for performance awards. Called "the highlight of the summer music scene" by City Newspaper, Finger Lakes Opera is pleased to extend the deadline to apply for our SUMMER-2018 Young Artist Program. The new deadline is January 8, 2018 with auditions being held in NYC on January 12 and Rochester, NY on February 3. Finger Lakes Opera Young Artist training program is intended for singers who demonstrate outstanding potential and who are seeking both training and performance experience. Performance opportunities include opera scenes program, children’s opera performance, and may include “An Evening of Opera Pops” with FLO Orchestra, and comprimario and study/cover roles in main stage opera.
