The 2019 VOCAL INSTITUTE is the leading source to prepare for a 21st century career in voice and vocal piano. Expert teaching artists collaborate and mentor participants to prepare them for on-stage opportunities, from a fully-staged opera production to public masterclasses. All performance opportunities are centered on excellent vocal technique and immersion in the dramatic process. 2019 opera production is Jennifer Higdon's COLD MOUNTAIN, offering major/supporting roles in all voice types. The Marilyn Horne Song Competition awards a singer and pianist each $5,000 and an international recital tour including London, UK. Additional opportunities include weekly private lessons, an Acting Workshop, and Industry Day with top artist management.

Founded by Anthony Laciura, (credits include Metropolitan Opera, HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire', and Netflix's 'Like Father') New York Dramatic Voices' Winter Intensive is a 2-week program from January 7-19, 2019 in the heart of Manhattan. During this time, participants will take part in coachings, acting and movement classes, and masterclasses given by respected professionals in the field. The program culminates in an open concert in New York City of staged scene selections on January 19, 2019. We offer this program as a safe environment to develop the skills of the emerging artist. LEAD ROLES AVAILABLE IN TRANSFORMATIVE PROJECT In 2018 Teatro Nuovo launched a new venture to revivify opera’s most beloved repertory: that of Italy in the Romantic era. Besides immersion in the vocal style, ornamentation, and technical challenges of Bel Canto opera, Teatro Nuovo offers Italian language courses and collaboration with a period instrument orchestra. Teatro Nuovo seeks qualified Bel Canto singers to join the transformation. The 2019 program runs June 3-July 21 and culminates in performances of Rossini's La gazza ladra and Bellini's La sonnambula. These 6-month professional residencies offer transformative performing opportunities and intensive training with an outstanding resident staff and guest faculty. All artists work with distinguished guest coaches Craig Rutenberg, Anthony Manoli, Danielle Orlando, and Rachelle Jonck; voice teachers Stephen King and Elizabeth Futral; and resident coaches Greg Ritchey, Tim Cheung, and Ben Malensek. Benenson Young Artists sing supporting roles and cover lead roles alongside our international casts, while Apprentice Artists perform throughout our beautiful community in concerts.

Due to the severe storms on the east coast, Opera Saratoga has extended its Young Artist Program application deadline until Thursday, September 20th. Opera Saratoga's 2019 season includes 3 operas: LA FILLE DU RÉGIMENT (Donizetti/Vernoy de St.Georges & Bayard); HÄNSEL UND GRETEL (Humperdinck/Wette) and the World Premiere of ELLEN WEST (Ricky Ian Gordon/Frank Bidart). Principal, supporting and cover role assignments are available for singers, along with opportunities for pianists/coaches, conductors and directors. Artists receive professional development opportunities throughout the summer, and will be featured in concerts and masterclasses. Auditions in NYC, Houston and Cincinnati.
