Opera North's Resident Artists are an integral and celebrated part of our company and are featured prominently throughout Opera North's summer season which includes Verdi's Macbeth, Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, a special opera/circus production celebrating the music of Aaron Copland, and concerts at historic sites around the New Hampshire and Vermont. For forty seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. Announcing the 2019 Orpheus Vocal Competition. Orpheus provides financial support and encouragement to singers up to age 30 from around the United States who are pursuing careers as Vocal artists. Orpheus is the only competition of its kind in the south central United States. December 1, 2018 is the Application Deadline. There are 3 categories in Orpheus: • Young Artist: for ages 25-30 • Student: for ages 19-24 • High School – students grades 10-12 This year the Society will be awarding grand prizes of $3,000 for the Student winner and $5,000 for the Young Artist winner. The Jerusalem International Opera Masterclass and Festival is reopening its doors again this year with a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Utah Opera's Resident Artist Program for singers and pianists provides an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months on a paid residency with Utah Opera developing professional skills through mainstage performances with Utah Opera and Utah Symphony, coachings, workshops, yoga, and masterclass sessions. Resident Artists also travel throughout the state to perform in-school presentations and teach students about the art of opera. Opera Academy at Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena: Master Class for opera singers. Description of Course: The course will take place at the Theatre and will host master classes with outstanding singers like Mariella Devia, Michele Pertusi and Nicola Martinucci with more topics from stage acting throughout artistic administration. All students will take part to workshops leading to performances of opera excerpts. Young opera singers from across the United States, Canada, and for the first time, Mexico, are eligible to compete for $15,000 cash prizes and receive feedback from top industry professionals as part of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Auditions begin at the District level, followed by 12 Regional Finals. From the Regions, Semi Finalists will be chosen to compete in New York with piano on the Met stage on March 24, 2019. Finalists will then perform at the Grand Finals Concert on Sunday, March 31, 2019, accompanied by the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra conducted by Carlo Rizzi.
