Our two-week intensive program consists of individual musical & dramatic coachings, master classes, a business of music lecture and an aria showcase for the public. We are happy to have Sarah Fraser (Fletcher Artist Management), Shawn Jeffery (ADA Artists Management) and Guy Barzilay (Guy Barzilay Artists) join us for feedback auditions. They will evaluate your performance, overall presentation, materials and repertoire. Canto offers programs in New York, Toulouse, Zagreb, Bucharest and Louisville. MISSISSIPPI OPERA PRESENTS: THE JOHN ALEXANDER NATIONAL VOCAL COMPETITION AND CONCERT. The sixth annual John Alexander National Vocal Competition for opera and musical theatre singers will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. This competition is presented by the Mississippi Opera in order to identify and recognize outstanding vocal opera and musical theatre talent from all over the United States. The competition is a national level competition for opera and music theatre singers between the ages of 18 to 40. The Sullivan Foundation seeks exceptionally talented young opera singers who are still taking early steps but show promise for significant careers. Winners receive initial prizes and then are eligible for additional role preparation grants in future years, a unique feature of the Foundation's support. 2019 auditions will be held in New York on November 10 and 11. The Loyola Dramatic Voice Symposium brings together world-renowned artists and teachers in the field of opera to present master classes and lectures for young dramatic singers and for teachers of voice. Full registration includes three days of professional development culminating in a final performance of the guest artists. 2019 Artists include Greer Grimsley, Luretta Bybee, Michael Borowitz, Clifton Forbis, Gordon Hawkins, and more. New this year! Students who audition to participate in a masterclass may be eligible for a full refund of their registration costs. Hawaii Opera Theatre is currently accepting applications for our 2019-20 season. Spend a few months in paradise as you refine your craft working with some of the best opera professionals in the business. Program dates are September 6 to December 6, 2019 or February 1 to May 15, 2020. Great for rising young professionals, singers have an opportunity to perform in supporting roles and cover leading roles in our mainstage productions. They also receive regular coachings from our music staff and guest clinicians, and take part in community engagement concerts, education programs, and school tours throughout the state.
