Deadline October 31, 2024: For over a decade participants and winners of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition have gone to enjoy successful careers in opera and musical theatre. It’s a chance to sing for some of the leading casting and stage directors, win cash prizes, and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Eight finalists will be chosen from virtual auditions, and invited to perform at the “Vibrations” The John Alexander National Vocal Competition Winners Concert on February 2, 2025 in Jackson, MS. Final prizes and placements will be announced at the concert. Monetary prizes for First Place are $1,200, Second Place $900. Housing and travel to and from Jackson covered by Opera Mississippi.

Audition Application for the 2025 Festival Season with the Ohio Light Opera are Monday, October 21st. For 45 seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. Our recently announced 2025 season includes: Carousel (Rogers and Hammerstein, 1945), Brigadoon (Lerner and Loewe, 1947), Tip-Toes (Gershwin, 1925), Patience (Gilbert and Sullivan, 1881), Bittersweet (Noël Coward, 1929), and The Cousin from Batavia (Eduard Künneke, 1921). Auditions are available either in-person or virtually and OLO offers both professional and young artist contracts.  All offers are paid and include housing for the duration of the contract.

Apply by October 28th! Nashville Opera is now accepting applications for the 2026 Mary Ragland Emerging Artist Program. Four singers and one pianist will be selected for this paid 12 to 15-week (depending on position) opportunity. Emerging Artists will perform comprimario and lead roles in the mainstage season productions of Jason Powell’s Fortuna the Time Bender vs. The Schoolgirls of Doom (Oct. 26-Nov. 17 2025), and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (Mar. 28-Apr. 19 2026), along with acting as featured soloists at the company's black-tie gala, and will headline the 2026 Nashville Opera On Tour education program (Jan. 25-Mar. 27, 2026).

USUO proudly supports Resident Artist singers and pianists with an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months from September to May developing professional skills through mainstage performances with USUO, expert coachings, workshops, and masterclass sessions.  The USUO Resident Artists are the primary, in-person ambassadors for opera and artistry in many of our local communities, but most particularly among Utah’s K-12 schools.  Each individual should expect to share their talent with USUO’s staff, board, and donors as well as Utah’s most diverse audiences as they travel around our beautiful state.

New York Dramatic Voices is excited to announce our 2025 Winter Intensive. Each artist will work with stage director, Laura Alley (SFO, NYCO), music director, Matthew Lobaugh (WNO, LA Opera), music coach, Bob Mollicone (SFO) and masterclass technician, Sarah Fraser (Fletcher Artist Management); culminating in a staged public performance in the heart of Manhattan. This Winter's repertoire will be Act III of Die Walküre, with orchestra at our new home at the Sheen Center. Each artist receives professional video of their performance. Program runs January 3-19. Apply now to the National Opera Association's Carolyn Bailey Argento Vocal Competition, the finals of which will be held in Savannah, GA, on January 8, 2025.  All selected finalists will receive $400 travel stipends to attend the competition! Over $15,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in two divisions: Scholarship (ages 18-24) and Artist (ages 25-40). This year, the Carolyn Bailey Argento Fellowship for Vocal Performance (up to $50,000 per year for graduate study) will also be awarded, providing full tuition plus living expenses for the recipient.
