The International Meistersinger Akademie (IMA) offers emerging artists an exceptional environment of excellence in the study of opera and concert repertoire. Our prestigious staff and guest professors bring their expertise to the vocal and interpretive development of the young professional. Central to IMA are the auditions held with approximately 40 agents, promoters, opera directors, casting directors, and festival managers from Europe and the USA. Individual feedback is given to each young artist, thus providing the networking and professional contacts important to the profession. IMA 2025 faculty includes Edith Wiens, KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Pål Moe, Thomas Lausmann, Craig Terry, Peggy Marmuth and Tobias Truniger, among others.

Opera Naples Resident Artist Program will take place January 12 through March 10, 2025 in beautiful southwest Florida. Artists will be prominently featured in principal and secondary roles in the productions La bohème, Die Zauberflöte, and The Mikado, performed with orchestra conducted by Ramón Tebar. They will also perform as soloists in performances of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. One-on-one coaching, masterclasses, educational outreach, and community concerts are additional components of the program. The four selected artists receive a stipend and local housing in beautiful Naples, FL.
The JTVA Elizabeth Greenfield Award is a $5,000 grant which honors a trailblazing Black singer by recognizing an outstanding present-day Black singer who is in the early stages of pursuing a professional career. It provides meaningful financial assistance to encourage and further advance the career development of promising Black vocal artist. The application deadline is September 3, 2024.

SVA’s second annual High School Nationals will take place from May 30-June 1, 2025 in partnership with Sarasota Opera. Competitors will sing on the stage of the William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre and compete for generous cash awards: First Place ($10,000), Second Place ($7,500), Third Place ($5,000), and Finalist ($650).
