MEROLA OPERA PROGRAM - APPLICATION DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 22, 2021

The Merola Opera Program, under the artistic direction of the San Francisco Opera Center, offers performance, training, and career development opportunities for young professional singers, coach/pianists, and stage directors.  Each participant receives individual coaching, classes in diction, acting and stage deportment, movement, financial planning, mental health/wellness, and public relations from leading professionals in the opera field.  The Program provides an allowance, transportation, and housing. Merola alumni may receive up to a total of $12,000 in career grants. Selected artists may be chosen to join SF Opera’s Adler Fellowship Program, a salaried, yearlong residency.

Opera Naples Resident Artists Program: deadline 1 week away!

Don't miss the deadline to apply to Opera Naples Resident Artist Program! Apply by September 25 for this incredible program which provides extensive performing opportunities and invaluable training.    Occurring January 10 through March 20, 2022, Opera Naples' exciting season presents Tosca, Glory Denied, Pirates of Penzance, and On the Town.  Performed with orchestra conducted by Ramón Tebar, the Resident Artists will be prominently featured with each Artist cast in at least two principal roles as well as secondary roles. One-on-one coaching, masterclasses, educational outreach, and community concerts are additional components of the program.   The four selected artists receive a stipend and local housing in beautiful Naples, FL.

Chautauqua Opera Company 2022: Deadline September 20!

Chautauqua Opera provides our Young Artists with performance tools essential to establishing a professional career in opera. It is recognized as one of the best training programs for young singers in America today and has seen over 1,000 artists benefit from this professional training experience. Our 2022 mainstage repertoire will include Puccini’s Tosca, Virgil Thomson’s The Mother of Us All, and Kamala Sankaram and Susan Yankowitz’s chamber opera Thumbprint, which is inspired by the experiences of Mukhtar Mai, a contemporary warrior for women's rights in Pakistan. It is our priority to cast Thumbprint as the creators intended, with an ethnically diverse cast featuring singers of South Asian descent. Deadline September 20!

Opera Saratoga Festival Artist Program 2022: Deadline extended to 9/20!

Opera Saratoga's Application Deadline Extended Until Monday, September 20th VIRTUAL AUDITIONS Opera Saratoga's Young Artist Program is focused primarily on honing performance skills and providing emerging artists with professional development opportunities. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and emerging professionals are all welcome to apply. Each artist receives a customized assignment for the summer. Festival Artists are cast in select principal, supporting and comprimario roles; cover all principal, supporting and comprimario roles; and sing chorus in main stage repertoire. Repertoire for Summer 2022 will include SKY ON SWINGS, a bel canto comedy (title TBA), a musical (title TBA), and Rossini's PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE.

Masterclasses with opera star and conductor José Cura: deadline 9/17!

A series of masterclasses with world-famous opera star and conductor José Cura focusing on Italian and French operatic repertoire delving in analytical interpretation, use of text, communication with the orchestra, interaction with the conductor. A unique element of the course will be the participation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra during the classes allowing students to widen their knowledge of interaction with an esteemed professional orchestra. The masterclasses will conclude with a Closing Concert open to the public. Schmidt Vocal Arts First National Prize: June 2022!

Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces First National Prize, Crowning 25th Anniversary Competition Season!  The milestone of SVA’s first High School Nationals will take place from June 3-5, 2022 in partnership with Sarasota Opera. Celebrity judges bass-baritone Eric Owens, Sarasota Opera General Director Richard Russell, and soprano Tamara Wilson will decide upon the First Place ($10,000), Second Place ($7,500), Third Place ($5,000), and Finalist ($650) Awards. The Sullivan Foundation Awards 2021: deadline September 15!

Audition applications are due September 15. There is no fee to apply. The Sullivan Foundation seeks talented young professional opera singers who are still taking early steps and show promise for significant careers. Sullivan Award winners receive initial prizes of $10,000 and then are eligible for continuing grants to learn new roles, a unique feature of the Foundation's support. More than 1,000 singers have earned Sullivan funding since 1957. All singers invited for a live audition must be available one of these dates and must provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate.

Sarasota Opera SEASON 2021-22: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 1

SEASON 2021-22  Join a prestigious and highly professional apprentice artists program! The company provides many performing opportunities throughout its fall and winter seasons.
