Chautauqua Opera provides our Young Artists with performance tools essential to establishing a professional career in opera. It is recognized as one of the best training programs for young singers in America today and has seen over 1,000 artists benefit from this professional training experience.

Our 2022 mainstage repertoire will include Puccini’s Tosca, Virgil Thomson’s The Mother of Us All, and Kamala Sankaram and Susan Yankowitz’s chamber opera Thumbprint, which is inspired by the experiences of Mukhtar Mai, a contemporary warrior for women's rights in Pakistan. It is our priority to cast Thumbprint as the creators intended, with an ethnically diverse cast featuring singers of South Asian descent.
