BOI is a new training program focused on role performance. Each singer in the program will receive a role to perform with orchestra on the Opera Brasov stage. Singers will also receive voice lessons, coaching and career workshops geared to help them polish their craft. All roles are open for the 2022 production of The Magic Flute in German. OPERA BRASOV : Singers in the program will perform at the Brasov Opera house and work with staff from the opera house. BRASOV: An ideal location to perfect your craft. Only a quick flight away from most European capitals. Brasov is a picturesque medieval city located in Transylvania under the Carpathian Mountains. The Harold Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition has returned for 2022! It has no top age limit, and is open to all singers who are not professionally represented (under management) or have not worked fulltime as a professional singer. The competition is intended to promote light opera and to showcase the ability to act and sing. The competition will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 10 am to 5 pm in the Jackson Symphony Hall, Jackson, MI. The finals will held in the same location, starting at 7:30 pm. All singers will receive comments from the judging panel. First Place: $3000; Second place: $2000; Third place: $1000. The Saengerbund Awards are presented annually to rising professional singers who excel in the German repertoire. Past winners have gone on to significant careers with the Houston Grand Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. The awards are not limited to American citizens. Age limit: 21-32. All travel expenses to Houston are paid by the Houston Saengerbund. Finalists must appear in person at the Finals Concert on February 5, 2022. Announcing the 2022 Orpheus Vocal Competition. The Orpheus Vocal Competition exists to provide financial support and encouragement to singers up to age 30 from around the United States who are pursuing careers as Vocal artists. Orpheus is the only competition of its kind in the south central United States. This year the Society will be awarding grand prizes of $3,000 for the Student winner and $5,000 for the Young Artist winner. The Verbier Festival Academy’s Atelier Lyrique is unique among voice programmes in Europe and its alumni are among some of today’s most sought after young performers.
