The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $40,000 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The 2022 competition takes place at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City May 16-21. The singing environment is well-organized and supportive, with professional accompanists and preliminary judges. Twelve finalists are chosen to perform before the Finals Judges who are distinguished in the world of opera. After the competition, finalists may request feedback from the judges. The international Belcanto Academy summer course 2022! The Rochester International Vocal Competition has grown from a small regional contest to a world-renowned event helping to launch careers. Hawaii Performing Arts Festival is set in one of the world's most unique and inspiring settings, the Big Island of Hawaii. Study Italian and sing opera in beautiful Tuscany this summer! We are still accepting applications for this exclusive new program in Arezzo, near Florence. This May 22-June 18 program will expand singers' horizons through daily Italian langauge courses (with a 3 credit hour option) diction, acting, musicology, and afternoons spent rehearsing scenes, all culminating in a final gala performance. Throughout the course of this intensive program, there is plenty of time for both practice and leisure, with weekends free for excursions. Housing, as well as three meals a day, five days a week is included in your tuition. Applications will be accepted only until all spots are filled, so apply early!
Oberlin Summer Opera Intensive: Application Deadline: March 1. Join Metropolitan Opera artists & Oberlin faculty in a program dedicated to preparing young singers (18 and older) for the unique challenges and opportunities of today's opera world. Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point has extended the application/virtual audition deadline until February 25 due to the challenges of late-starting semesters, rehearsals, recording and Omicronitis. With three unique options to choose from, BIOA prepares all participants for a successful career in opera. Three weeks remain and there is are limited spots available. Eleven years of exceptional in-person training has prepared the Druid City Opera Workshop faculty well for an exciting week of learning and performance experience. Join us, May 18-26 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a week of singing and sharing and expanding your network. The week will include classes in acting, movement, yoga, improvisation, and the business of singing, in addition to one-on-one musical coachings.
