Operating out of Haliburton, Ontario (Canada), since being established in 2007 by internationally acclaimed tenor, Richard Margison, Highlands Opera Studio is a five week summer professional training & development program for a select number of highly advanced emerging operatic artists. Accepting only 20 participants, it’s a unique cutting edge resource geared to the individual artist, assisting singers & pianists make the transition into the professional world, through one-on-one training & professional networking opportunities with top leaders in the opera industry. Performance opportunities include 2-3 fully staged operas, 5-6 concerts, 3-4 Masterclasses, and multiple community concerts.
Manhattan Opera Studio is holding auditions for the 2023 Summer Festival. Selected singers will sing a fully staged opera with the MOS orchestra. We are casting all roles for Mozart's Magic Flute and Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel. Additionally, all singers will participate in a gala concert in the prestigious Carnegie Hall. There will be masterclasses with some of the most renowned opera agents in NYC, feedback auditions with conductors of the Metropolitan Opera House, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and coachings in music and diction.

Replacing the in-person competition for 2023, the HAUGH LIGHT OPERA VIDEO CONTEST allows singers to compete without the perils of travel. The 2021 contest attracted singers fro seven countries. Singers are invited to shoot their best performance of a light opera number and submit the video for our judging panel. All singers receive comments and the winners receive cash awards! OperaFest, a 4-week opportunity, offers private coaching, masterclasses with internationally renowned faculty, various performance opportunities, and workshops exploring professional learning. Our program focuses on our three artistic pillars: creation, collaboration, and mentorship. OperaFest provides training on operatic style, diction and language, dramatic presentation, performance technique, professional skills training, and portfolio building. All OperaFest participants will have a range of performance and coaching opportunities, including weekly public master classes, aria showcases, a scenes program, and collaborative performances with SSMF instrumental musicians and composers. Deadlines quickly approach for live auditions for Opera in the Ozarks' 2023 season, January 14-29: Chicago, San Francisco, Norman, Dallas, Houston, New York, Boston, Tucson. Final application/audition deadline is February 5. Our 72nd season features three double-cast, fully staged productions with orchestra: L'elisir d'amore, Orphée aux Enfers and The Tender Land -- 7-8 performances each.
