The application for the ACPC Marcella Kochaska Sembrich Vocal Competition for singers of Polish descent is now open. This national vocal competition distinguishes young singers of Polish descent with a $2,000 prize. The winner will perform a Sembrich Award Concert before the representatives of 30 Polish organizations representing 15 states at the ACPC national convention in Pittsburgh, PA, in August of 2016. Programs of the 2015 and 2014 Sembrich Award Concerts are on the website, along with descriptive reports and photos. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2016.

Ravinia's Steans Music Institute is the Ravinia Festival’s summer conservatory for young professional musicians, providing participants the opportunity to study with an internationally known faculty of performing artists and to appear in recitals and master classes as part of the festival’s summer concert schedule. DEADLINE EXTENSION THROUGH NOVEMBER 15 - Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre is now accepting materials from talented and repertory appropriate artists to be considered for our Festival Artist Program during our 2016 summer season, May 25 - August 6, 2016. Repertoire will include Porgy and Bess, Show Boat, Ragtime, and Il Trittico. Artists chosen to participate in our program sing in the chorus/ensemble and may have the opportunity to cover lead roles. A combined professional training & performing program that takes place in St. John’s, NL Canada for a minimum of 4-6 weeks from May 28 – July 3 2016. Utah Opera Resident Artist Program - Application Deadline Friday, October 30! Utah Opera's Resident Artist Program for singers and pianists provides an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months on a paid residency with Utah Opera developing professional skills through mainstage performances with Utah Opera and Utah Symphony, coachings, workshops, yoga, and masterclass sessions. Resident Artists also travel throughout the state to perform in-school presentations and teach students about the art of opera. Apply now!
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENSION TO SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1! Singers and vocal pianists, do not miss the opportunity to apply for the Music Academy's full-scholarship program in Santa Barbara, CA. Voice Program Director, Marilyn Horne, is joined by faculty Warren Jones, Martin Katz, John Churchwell, Fred Carama and other distinguished performers, teachers and coaches. Singers and pianists receive intensive training in opera and song, language coaching, weekly private lessons, weekly public masterclasses, frequent recitals, and the opportunity to compete in the Marilyn Horne Song Competition, awarding one singer and one pianist a $3000 cash prize and a national recital tour the following spring. 2016 productions include Smetana's "The Bartered Bride," conducted by Matthew Aucoin, as well as Aucoin's new opera "Second Nature," and an opera scenes production featuring all 23 enrolled singers accompanied by the 6 enrolled vocal pianists.
The Miami Music Festival (MMF) announces the creation of The Miami Wagner Institute–an elite tuition-free program led by Metropolitan Opera soprano Christine Goerke, and preeminent Wagner specialist Kathleen Kelly for dramatic/lyrics in transition age 24-40. The Institute aims to provide much-needed training and professional-level performance opportunities for the unique demands of the dramatic Wagnerian singer. Singers chosen to participate will receive voice lessons, coachings, master classes and performance opportunities including scenes and arias with the MMF Symphony Orchestra at the New World Center.
