The Music Academy of the West is a full-scholarship program offering an opportunity for 23 singers (ages 18-34) to study and perform during an 8-week Summer School and Festival. Under the direction of celebrated mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, the Music Academy Voice Program is recognized as one of the world’s preeminent summer music programs for exceptional pre-professional musicians. Singers receive weekly private lessons, weekly masterclasses in front of an audience of typically 300 patrons, individual diction and language coaching, and a variety of training and performance opportunities including a fully-staged opera (2016 production: Bartered Bride), opera scenes, vocal chamber music, solo recitals and more.
