Live auditions October 19 to November 12!
Opera on the Avalon is now accepting applications from artists interested in applying to our 2016 festival. A combined professional training & performing program that takes place in St. John’s, NL Canada for a minimum of 4-6 weeks from May 28 – July 3 2016. Programs available in Opera MainStage (YAP) Opera Studio, Collaborative Piano, and Coaching. Internships available in Directing, Conducting, Arts Administration, Stage Management, Production Management, and Technical Theatre. Scholarships and stipends available for all artists depending on program acceptance.
2016 Repertoire:
3 operas including world premiere of Robert Chafe/John Estacio’s Ours.
Remainder of the repertoire to be decided after completion of audition tour.
Repertoire being considered includes:
The Ballad of Baby Doe, Cenerentola, Cendrillon, La filled du regiment, and Sweeney Todd.
2016 artists include:
Directors: Glynis Leyshon, Jonathan Monro, Michael Waller
Conductors: Judith Yan, Kimberley Bartzcak, Jonathan Monro
Master Coaches and Guest Artists: Gerald Martin Moore, Mark Morash, David Pomeroy, Elizabeth Turnbull, Olivier Godin, and Alan Armstrong.

Opportunities include:
Perform principal and/or comprimario roles in MainStage Productions (fully staged with orchestra)
Cover principal roles in MainStage Productions
Participate in auditions for artist managers and opera companies
Perform in art song recitals, concerts, and master classes with prestigious guest artists
Perform principal roles in full-staged productions and perform throughout the area promoting outreach
Receive individual coaching from festival music staff and special guests.
