Now accepting applications for our Winter 2016 production of Mozart's Così fan tutte. Under the leadership of General Director Damon Nestor Ploumis, participants have the opportunity to sing a full role in performances of Così fan tutte with chamber orchestra. The program develops singers through daily German language and diction coaching, training in singing, movement, rehearsal process and role study, as well as master classes, individual lessons and stagecraft instruction. Chicago Summer Opera was developed to help young singers fine-tune their unique skills. Our mission is to provide affordable training to developing singers while providing accessible and high quality performances to our community. At Chicago Summer Opera, we offer training in role preparation, vocal technique, dramatic preparation, audition technique, stage movement and diction. This year, in addition to the main stage productions, the program will offer weekly staged scenes program with piano. The session culminates with two concert/semi-staged performances with orchestra. This combination of training helps developing singers grow immensely in a short period of time. Deadline to apply is November 16th!

The application for the ACPC Marcella Kochaska Sembrich Vocal Competition for singers of Polish descent is now open. This national vocal competition distinguishes young singers of Polish descent with a $2,000 prize. The winner will perform a Sembrich Award Concert before the representatives of 30 Polish organizations representing 15 states at the ACPC national convention in Pittsburgh, PA, in August of 2016. Programs of the 2015 and 2014 Sembrich Award Concerts are on the website, along with descriptive reports and photos. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2016.
