Participants work with renowned faculty, composers, and voice teachers in private coachings, lessons, and masterclasses. SongFest is hosted by the Colburn School located in L.A. and is packed with performance opportunities and world-class faculty. Scholarships are available!   Selected faculty includes pianists Graham Johnson, Martin Katz, Kevin Murphy, and Roger Vignoles; composers John Harbison, Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, John Musto, and Sheila Silver; and singers: John Aler, Amy Burton, Lorraine Manz and William McGraw.

Canto Vocal Programs returns to Louisville in July with a production of La Traviata. Our newest program in Rocca di Cambio, Italy (Abruzzo) joins other 2020 programs (Zagreb, Bucharest, New York and Bordeaux.) Canto's expert faculty (MET, Les Maîtres Sonneurs, Theater Lübeck and more) helps each singer develop the skills that are the hallmark of great performers. Application deadline approaching! Do you want to be a professional singer? Learn what it really takes to embark on an opera career at Curtis Summerfest. This program, led by the former artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre, Mikael Eliasen, is designed primarily for young singers who are considering entering conservatory, and is open to students of high school and undergraduate age. Singers in this select program pursue activities focused on vocal artistry: Study privately in voice lessons and private coachings; Benefit from daily masterclasses; Perform for peers at the Sing-In, and for family and friends at the Sing-Out; Practice in studios with Steinway pianos. The Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition solocomp.org Application deadline February 1, 2020. Fee $30. Late applications by February 15, 2020. Fee $50. Semifinals April 4, 2020, NYC Finals Concert 4/18/20 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 1977, the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world, and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $22,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years – must be born after Jan. 1, 1980. Open to singers who are early in their oratorio career.

Distinguished faculty in the hometown of Giacomo Puccini: Opera Lucca 2020

Study Bel Canto Opera in Puccini’s Hometown! Opera Lucca is a summer course for college students in the heart of Tuscany, focusing on Italian bel canto repertoire and language. The 2020 season will be held at the Lucca Italian School, from June 7th to July 4th. Repertoire will include scenes from Le nozze di Figaro, La bohème, and La traviata as well as other Baroque and bel canto repertoire. Our faculty are experts in operatic Italian: Peter Volpe, Marco Nisticò, Marcello Cormio, Elvia Puccinelli, Raphael Fusco, and Antonella Gozzoli. Lucca is a medieval walled city and is close to Florence, Pisa, Siena, and the Italian Riviera. Audition now for roles and early consideration! Application deadline is February 2nd, 2020. Deadline February 1: Bel Canto Institute 2020

Summer and Youth Summer Program: June 29-July 25, 2020. Singers and pianists in residence in Florence, Italy; the opportunity to immerse oneself in study of Bel Canto, a style of singing/playing rich in vocal and orchestral traditions handed down from generation to generation. Participants study with internationally renowned faculty who perform, teach, and coach at the leading opera houses of the world. Bel Canto Institute features two tracks: Youth Division Summer Program (ages 15-17) and the Summer Program (ages 18+). Performance awards granted. Award recipients are granted performance opportunities in the United States with piano or orchestra. Application deadline: February 1st, 2020.

New Generation Festival-Mascarade Opera Studio Opera Scenes Summer School 2020: Apply Today!

Applications are now open for the New Generation Festival-Mascarade Opera Studio Opera Scenes Summer School 2020. The summer school is an intensive training and performance programme for young aspiring singers at conservatoire level, taking place in Florence in August 2020. Housed in the stunning surroundings of the Palazzo Corsini in the centre of Florence, the NGF-MOS Opera Scenes Summer School gives students the opportunity to enhance their performance skills in Opera. Running alongside the dynamic New Generation Festival, the course provides one-to-one working sessions with industry professionals, as well as working towards a public performance in the Palazzo ballroom of a series of Opera Scenes.

Boston Wagner Institute at New England Conservatory with Director, Jane Eaglen: Deadline Dec 21!

Boston Wagner Institute at New England Conservatory with Director, Jane Eaglen July 27th-August 7th, 2020 Boston Wagner Institute is an education-forward program for singers with the potential to sing Wagner. This program offers a daily private session for each participant, rotating between Ms. Eaglen, and master pianist coaches, Michael Strauss, and Eric Weimer, along with movement and dramatic sessions with Assistant Director, Danielle Wright. The final concert will take place in NEC's Jordan Hall. Applications are due Saturday, Dec 21, 2019.
