Heartland Sings, Inc. is a dynamic vocal production company headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, founded in 1997 by Maestro Robert Nance. Full-time vocal artists are engaged in the production of programming that includes opera, musical theater, jazz and pop, as well as community and educational outreach. Each receives a salary and benefits (including healthcare, retirement, vacation). We are currently seeking to fill a full-time mezzo soprano/alto position. Maryland Lyric Opera will be offering a three-week intensive preparatory institute for young artists in the DC/MD/VA area. 5 singers and 1-2 pianists will participate in a holistic program that addresses the needs of young artists pursuing a career in opera taking into consideration the current demands on artists. Young artists will be working primarily on full Italian opera roles and arias. Singers will receive 1:1 vocal coaching on full Italian opera roles from conductor Louis Salemno. Singers will receive daily coaching and recitative workshops with Maestro Louis Salemno. Voice lessons will be taught by baritone Javier Arrey. Boston University Opera Institute auditions for tenors and mezzo-sopranos to take place on May 23, 2017. The Opera Institute is an intensive, highly selective two-year performance-based training program for emerging operatic artists. Up to 12 individuals are accepted into the program each year through a process of national audition and recruitment. Each Institute member receives full tuition and stipend. The Institute also serves as the Center of Opera Training for Vocal Performance degree candidates, where students share training and casting opportunities.
