Application deadline extended - April 15, 2018: Following the great success from the previous five years, OCAVA announces the OCAVA-in-Rome 2018 Summer Program for singers in Rome, Italy (June 17 to July 8). The young vocal artists from the United States and abroad will come to Rome to work with an internationally renowned faculty on this intensive 3-week program that combines daily voice lessons and Italian language classes, weekly master classes, lectures/workshops, group discussions, and three public concerts. This 3-week program is open to high school and college students/graduates, and accomplished amateurs who want to develop performance skills, improve vocal technique, and actively participate in music making and performances in a highly professional atmosphere.

Exclusive one-week masterclass: Venice Bel Canto Festival 2018

This is an exclusive one-week master class for only 10 students in one of the most enchanting cities in the world and the birthplace of opera. It will take place this August with renowned international tenor Bruce Ford, bel canto specialist Ken Querns Langley, and coaches Roberto Bertuzzi from La Fenice opera house in Venice, and Janus Araghipour. Lessons will take place Monday to Friday and will include 2 hours of Italian each day, singing lessons AND vocal coaching each day, as well as rehearsals. There will be a concert on Saturday 14 July 2018 and an amazing evening 'cast party' on a boat in the magnificent Canal Grande where we will be front row to observe the stunning fireworks display of La Festa del Redentore di Venezia!

OFP is an individualized training program, offering introductions to opera houses with available professional contract opportunities. MULTIPLE PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS were offered to 2017 Alumni as a result of their OFP participation. The Handel Aria Competition: Deadline April 1

The Handel Aria Competition encourages singers of all voice types to explore the repertoire of Handel. The preliminary recording round is due by midnight on April 1, 2018. The final round will take place on Friday June 8, 2018 at 7:30 in Mills Concert Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music. Prizes: First prize: $1,500, Second prize: $1000, Third prize: $750, Audience Favorite: $500. Finalists will be given up to $500 for travel to Madison. (limited to actual expense.)
