Opportunities remain for both leading and supporting roles in Bizet/Brook’s La Tragédie de Carmen, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Sondheim’s Company. The 53rd International Vocal Competition LiedDuo is held 20-24 November 2019 in 's-Hertogenbosch (The Netherlands) and involves Lied repertoire for singer-pianist duos. The International Jury includes prominent musicians such as soprano Dame Felicity Lott (president), mezzo-soprano Jard van Nes, baritone Thomas Oliemans, pianists Graham Johnson and David Selig, and programmer Mirjam Wijzenbeek (Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam). DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 15! Women Conductors from around the world are invited to apply to the fifth residency of the Linda and Mitch Hart Institute of Women Conductors (HIWC) at The Dallas Opera. This year residency will take place in Dallas from October 27 to November 9, 2019. This year the selected conductors will be also featured at the Women in Classical Music Symposium presented by The Dallas Symphony Orchestra during the residency. The Handel Aria Competition was created to promote the performance of Handel’s extensive vocal repertoire. The final round will take place on Friday June 7, 2019 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music. Contestants must be 18-35 years old as of the day of the finals. Past finalists are eligible to audition, with the exception of first prize winners.
