Opera Saratoga: Deadline is tomorrow, October 17!

The deadline for Opera Saratoga’s Young Artist Program, which includes opportunities for singers, pianists/coaches, conductors and directors, is this Friday, October 17th.

Three operas will make up the company’s 2015 Summer Festival: La Cenerentola (Rossini), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and the world premiere of The Long Walk (Beck). Principal, supporting and cover role assignments are available for singers in the newly expanded Young Artist Program, which also includes new opportunities for conductors and directors.

2015 SEASON INFORMATION

Three main stage productions will be presented during the summer of 2015:

• LA CENERENTOLA (Rossini / Ferretti): Conductor – Gary Thor Wedow; Director – Lawrence Edelson
• THE LONG WALK (Beck / Fleischmann) – world premiere: Conductor – Steve Osgood; Director – David Schweizer
• DIDO AND AENEAS (Purcell / Tate): Conductor – Nicole Paiement; Director/Choreographer – Karole Armitage

Members of the young artist program will cover all roles in all three operas, and will also be cast in the following roles:

LA CENERENTOLA
Roles Available for Young Artists: Clorinda (soprano), Tisbe (mezzo soprano).
Covers: Angelina (mezzo soprano), Ramiro (tenor), Dandini (baritone), Don Magnifico (buffo baritone or bass), Alidoro (bass baritone or bass), Clorinda (soprano), Tisbe (mezzo soprano).

THE LONG WALK
Covers: Brian (baritone), Jessie (mezzo soprano), Perneatha (soprano), The Shrink (soprano), Ricky (lyric tenor), Castleman (high tenor), Jeff (bass baritone).

DIDO AND AENEAS
Roles Available for Young Artists: Aeneas (high baritone or tenor), Belinda (soprano), Sorceress (mezzo soprano or contralto), Second Woman (soprano), First and Second Witches (mezzo sopranos), Spirit (countertenor), Sailor (tenor).
Covers: Dido (mezzo soprano), Aeneas (high baritone or tenor), Belinda (soprano), Sorceress (mezzo soprano or contralto), Second Woman (soprano), First and Second Witches (mezzo sopranos), Spirit (countertenor), Sailor (tenor).

Program dates: June 1 - July 26, 2015. Auditions in NYC Nov.30th-Dec.2nd; Cincinnati Dec. 4th; Houston Dec. 6th.
