The nineteenth century saw a flourishing of Russian opera. Its music is exceptionally theatrical and compelling and influences from Russian folk music can also often be heard. During the IVC Summer School, particular attention will be paid to the operatic works of Modest Mussorgsky, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Programme: Private coachings, group sessions, public master classes, lectures, movies, closing concert etc.
Masters: Elena Vasilyeva (soprano), Larisa Dyadkova (mezzo-soprano), Sergei Leiferkus (baritone), Lyuba Orfenova (pianist / opera coach)
Coaches: Alexander Humala (conductor), Irina Sisoyeva (language coach / pianist)
Age limit:The course is open to all professional singers, born in 1980 or later, or students currently in their final year (Master)
Academy singers: A maximum of 16
Observers are also welcome (voice students)

Course fee: € 450 (lunch & dinner included)

Accommodation: Board and lodging with host families for participants
Repertoire: Singers apply for 1 or 2 roles from specified repertoire list, plus a minimum of 2 additional arias from the listed repertoire.
As well as a minimum of 2 Russian art songs composed between 1820 - 1920.
A few ensemble pieces, duets and operatic scenes will be also be covered during the course.
Rachmaninov's one-act opera Aleko will be performed in full (concert version).
