FIO MONDO presents FIO ITALIA, a festival designed to provide young opera singers with the opportunity to perform, learn, and expand their vocal horizons in an international setting with fellow singers from around the world. The festival takes place in the beautiful medieval town of Urbania, located between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea in the Marche region of Italy.
This season, FIO ITALIA will present fully staged productions of Così fan tutte, Dialogues of the Carmelites, The Medium, and Gianni Schicchi. Each singer will study Italian intensively, work with Italian opera coaches, and have lessons with our internationally renowned voice faculty. Singers will also have the opportunity to participate in a masterclass; clinicians for 2024 include Fiorenza Cossotto and Eva Mei.The season also includes a Gala concert, recitals, and an excursion to one of Italy’s favored destinations.
Additionally, FIO ITALIA is excited to be working in collaboration with the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini of Jesi. The opera for this collaboration will be selected by the Foundation and will be announced shortly. Any singer selected to perform in this opera will be considered for the Foundation’s Young Artist Program during their year-long festival.
