The Canterbury Concert Series started in 1984 with the aim to bring world-class music to the Dixon, Illinois area, just 100 miles west of Chicago. In the years since, it has hosted musical artists from across the globe and highlighted some of the Midwest’s finest in classical and jazz. As a well-established local organization, the people behind the Canterbury Concert Series believe that community engagement and supporting the arts requires building relationships with established artists and young musicians and investing in the future together.
This year Canterbury Concerts is partnering with the Academia Vocale di Lorenzo Malfatti in Lucca, Italy, to award a promising young singer with a guaranteed spot in the month-long vocal and Italian language summer training program, as well as a full-tuition scholarship, a prize totaling near $10k USD.
