Bologna International Opera Academy (BIOA) 2025: deadline March 1!

The Bologna International Opera Academy (BIOA) is still accepting applications for the 2025 program, running July 12–26.

BIOA is a boutique-style training and career development program that offers the following: daily master classes; one-on-one coaching from world-renowned opera singers, voice teachers, opera directors and coaches; participation in two recitals at the end of the program; and
the opportunity to be immersed in Italian language and culture, while living in the historic surroundings of Bologna.

The most distinguished element of BIOA is that singers can audition for opera industry professionals (in fact, numerous artists from BIOA have received professional contracts with opera houses and agencies). This unparalleled opportunity, paired with performing in the picturesque city of Bologna, greatly benefit every serious singer to complete their training and advance their professional development.

From world-renowned coach Leone Magiera to internationally acclaimed conductor Nicoletta Conti, BIOA’s faculty also boasts two opera directors, four voice teachers, three masterclass presenters, and numerous pianists and coaches. These individuals have all been selected with the healthy and progressive development of the 21st-century musician in mind, and have contributed to the formation of BIOA’s unique curriculum. This curriculum has been designed to build the proficiency and discipline that will facilitate success for those seeking a professional singing career, as well as expose participants to professional-level opera auditions early in their careers.

Furthermore, qualified participants in BIOA 2025 will automatically be accepted to the semi-finals of the Bologna International Vocal Competition, which occurs directly after BIOA finishes.
