Bologna International Opera Academy (BIOA) is an intensive, top-notch summer program located in one of the most enchanting and vibrant cities in Italy. Music is etched in the heart of Bologna; it is part of the fabric of the local economy and is thriving. In 2006, Bologna was named an UNESCO Creative City of Music, a prestigious recognition honoring the city’s extraordinary musical tradition.
BIOA is a boutique-style program that offers: daily Master classes; one-on-one coaching from world-renowned opera singers, voice teachers, opera directors and coaches; and the opportunity to be immersed in Italian language and culture, while living in the picturesque and historic surroundings of Bologna. BIOA’s curriculum is carefully designed to build the proficiency and discipline that will facilitate success for those seeking a professional singing career, as well as exposing participants to professional-level opera auditions early in their careers.
BIOA focuses on standard operatic repertoire with emphasis on the works of Italian composers. Voice coaching of standard arias with the world-renowned operatic masters provides singers with a distinct advantage in the fiercely competitive audition process.
