The American Traditions Vocal Competition has announced they will change course for 2021 and hold their 28th annual vocal competition virtually from February 9-19, 2021. Singers will still perform nine different genres of American music and will be eligible to receive almost $40,000 in prizes. Following the audio-only application, 28 singers will be selected as Quarterfinailsts. Each contestant will have planning sessions with AD and A/V teams, as well as rehearsals for filming, recording and preparation, and will receive either $300 or recording equipment, depending on need. Tri-Cities Opera's first national vocal competition, TCO NEXT, will encourage emerging professional singers by promoting new voices and new music. This completely online opportunity features an anonymous audio-only first round, and a focus on new music and musical theatre. Singers will compete for cash prizes with a grand prize of $3000 and a contract for a future role with Tri-Cities Opera. Early bird deadline: August 1, 2020.
