Bel Canto Boot Camp's signature course teaches the elements of bel canto singing based on Vaccai’s Metodo di canto. We use the trusted Vaccai method in an innovative way to refine each singer’s knowledge and practice of legato, registration, phrasing and dynamics, ornamentation and variation, historical notation practices, as well as Italian diction and poetic forms. New for Summer 2021 are Vaccai Interactive and Vaccai Intensive. Participation at any level is open to all singers without regard to age or ability. The inaugural OperaFest brings together artists and leading experts from around the world for 4-weeks of private coaching, masterclasses, and professional development. During the festival, artists will perform in chamber concerts, opera excerpt programs, aria nights, and will collaborate with composers and instrumentalists on new works. So too, did Kurt Weill, Langston Hughes, and Elmer Rice innovate in 1946 when they collaborated to write the extraordinary American opera, STREET SCENE. With the complex, tragic, fun & funny cast of Street Scene as the focus of our Spring Session, guest director, Dan Wallace Miller will take us on a deep-dive into the tools required to build a three-dimensional character within a larger story. In 2021, Russian Opera Workshop continues as a Virtual Role Study Workshop. Auditions are not required and spots are limited. ABOUT: Russian Opera Workshop is a privately operated, independent program, located in summer residence at the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia. Founded in 2011, by Ghenady Meirson (AVA, Curtis), the program is focused on one Russian opera per session, offering intensive language and vocal training, and public performances.

Apply Today for the 2021 Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition. The Jensen Foundation supports America’s most promising young opera professionals with its annual Vocal Competition. Singers compete for their share of $40,000 in awards, including a $15,000 First Place award. The 2021 Jensen Competition is 100% virtual. Our competition environment is well-organized and supportive. Preliminary judges choose twelve finalists, based on their video-auditions, and then Finals Judges, who are distinguished in the world of opera, choose winners based on video-auditions. After the competition, finalists may request feedback from the judges. The deadline to apply is March 14, 2021, so apply today!

The Schmidt Vocal Institute (SVI) nurtures and mentors the development of talented high school singers who wish to pursue studies in music performance or education. The curriculum focuses on training singers to have a healthy technique, improved musicianship, and outstanding performance skills.   2021 Participants of SVI will receive: Master Classes or private coachings with distinguished guest faculty Denyce Graves (Metropolitan Opera), J.J.
