Pacific Opera Project (POP) announces auditions for all roles in Into the Woods and I Can't Breathe, as well as chorus for Iolanta. Submission Deadline Extended to Feb 1. Into the Woods: A massive outdoor production at one of LA’s iconic outdoor spaces, Descanso Gardens, July 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 2022. Rehearsals will begin around June 15. All roles are open. I Can't Breathe: West Coast Premiere of a new opera by Brandon J. Gibson and Leslie Burrs at The El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, CA May 13, 14, 15. Rehearsals will begin around May 1. All roles are open. Iolanta: Paid and volunteer chorus positions available for all voice types. Performances March 20, 26, and 27 at the Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo. Rehearsals begin March 3. The Academy of Vocal Arts is dedicated to training young artists with tremendous potential as international opera stars. Resident Artists come from around the world, and are prepared through rigorous vocal instruction, coaching and performance training. For over forty seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. For our 2022 festival season we are excited to return to a season that looks very much like our traditional one, only a bit shorter.  We will be presenting six full productions - five on the mainstage and the sixth in an outdoor venue. The 40 performing artists who make up the vocal ensemble are chosen for their abilities to perform and work at the highest level in all disciplines demanded by the company’s specialized repertoire. Classic Lyric Arts offers three immersive summer training programs for classical singers and collaborative pianists. We instruct, mentor, and support an emerging generation of artists to discover the essence of opera and song through the prism of language, history, and culture. CLA France: June 6-23: Périgord, France. Discover the beauty and nuance of French opera and mélodie in southern France. CLA Berkshires: June 27-July 11: Great Barrington, Massachusetts (US). Explore the brilliance of Mozart's Italian operatic masterpieces surrounded by the majestic Berkshire mountains. CLA Italy: July 25-August 12: Novafeltria, Italy. In order to ensure that as many contestants as possible can safely prepare for and participate in this year's contest, the application deadline for the 2022 Lenya Competition preliminary auditions has been extended to Wednesday, 2 February. Competition guidelines otherwise remain unchanged. Contestants may still use pre-recorded accompaniment in their preliminary audition videos if COVID mandates. Adjustments to the dates and format of the semifinal round are also under consideration. The Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition solocomp.org Application deadline February 1, 2022, Fee $30; Late applications by February 15, 2022, Fee $50. Semifinals April 2, 2022, NYC; Finals Concert April 9, 2022 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 1977, the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world, and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $22,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years - must be born after Jan. 1, 1982. Open to singers who are early in their oratorio career.

Resident Artist Program: Michigan Opera Theatre, under the leadership of Wayne Brown, CEO; Yuval Sharon, Artistic Director; and Christine Goerke, Associate Artistic Director, engages artists of national and international stature for stellar performances. The MOT Resident Artist has experience and training, an understanding of dramatic intent, and outstanding musical and vocal talent. While with MOT, through masterclasses and specialized guidance by a team of experts, the Resident Artist will further their career development and may be included in mainstage productions, recital series, and performances throughout the community. Chicago Summer Opera offers training in role preparation, vocal technique, dramatic preparation, audition technique, and stage movement. Each singer either receives a full role or full cover role.
