Study Italian and sing opera in beautiful Tuscany this summer! We are still accepting applications for this exclusive new program in Arezzo, near Florence.  This May 22-June 18 program will expand singers' horizons through daily Italian langauge courses (with a 3 credit hour option) diction, acting, musicology, and afternoons spent rehearsing scenes, all culminating in a final gala performance. Throughout the course of this intensive program, there is plenty of time for both practice and leisure, with weekends free for excursions.  Housing, as well as three meals a day, five days a week is included in your tuition.  Applications will be accepted only until all spots are filled, so apply early!

Oberlin Summer Opera Intensive: Application Deadline: March 1. Join Metropolitan Opera artists & Oberlin faculty in a program dedicated to preparing young singers (18 and older) for the unique challenges and opportunities of today's opera world. Daily instruction will focus on three areas of concentration: PERFORMANCE SKILLS: Acting • Movement • Coachings • Voice Master Classes. PERSONAL & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Health & Wellness • Equity and Inclusivity • Consent-based instruction. PRACTICAL SKILLS: Headshots • Video Recordings • Resumé. Participants will be able to practice and hone new-found skills in arias, cabaret, and scene showcase performances. Each student will receive headshots and audition videos to use on the next stop of their artistic journey.

*EXTENDED DEADLINE* The Taos Opera Institute invites 24 promising young artists, four emerging professionals, and an esteemed faculty to the beautiful Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point has extended the application/virtual audition deadline until February 25 due to the challenges of late-starting semesters, rehearsals, recording and Omicronitis.  Emerging Artist productions of Così fan tutte, La rondine and A Little Night Music, each in 7-8 double-cast performances, fully staged productions with orchestra. Studio artists are featured the outreach production of Pinocchio and chorus. Vocal instruction, daily movement/stage skills class, yoga for performers, a stage combat workshop, guest artist master classes and the Broadway Cabaret fill out a busy and rewarding summer. The deadline for submitting applications for the Bologna International Opera Academy 2022 is quickly approaching. With three unique options to choose from, BIOA prepares all participants for a successful career in opera.  Three weeks remain and there is are limited spots available. BIOA classic offers masterclasses, one-on-one training with world-class faculty, industry auditions, and recital performance opportunities. BIOA Opera Theater also includes role preparation (in Bologna) for a fully-staged production of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and opera gala with orchestra in Burgas, Bulgaria. Collaborative pianists work with world-renowned pianists to hone their operatic accompanying skills. Eleven years of exceptional in-person training has prepared the Druid City Opera Workshop faculty well for an exciting week of learning and performance experience. Join us, May 18-26 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a week of singing and sharing and expanding your network. The week will include classes in acting, movement, yoga, improvisation, and the business of singing, in addition to one-on-one musical coachings.  The experience will end with a public performance of scenes and excerpts of work from the week on Thursday evening, May 26.   The application is free and easy - resume, headshot, and two recordings.  Check out our website for more information and a list of faculty.  

Directed by Laura Brooks Rice, Sewanee Summer Music Festival's 4-week OperaFest offers private coaching, masterclasses, various performance opportunities, and workshops exploring professional learning. Our programs focus on our three artistic pillars: creation, collaboration, and mentorship. Each session provides training on operatic style, diction and language, dramatic presentation, performance technique, and professional skills training portfolio artists. OperaFest participants will have a range of performance and coaching opportunities, including weekly public master classes, aria showcases, a scenes program, chamber performances, and collaborative performances with SSMF student composers.
