The deadline for Opera Saratoga's 2017 Young Artist Program for singers, coaches (pianists), conductors, and directors is 4 days away! Applications close on Monday September 12th. Auditions take place in Houston, Cincinnati, and New York City the first week of November. The 2017 Festival will include 3 new productions: FALSTAFF (Verdi), ZÉMIRE ET AZOR (Grétry), and THE CRADLE WILL ROCK (Blitzstein). Principal, supporting and cover assignments are available. Artists will also receive professional development opportunities, and will be featured on a variety of concerts including SWAN SONGS (scenes from composers' final operas) and BROADWAY IN THE 1930s (including music by Gershwin, Rogers & Weill). Sarasota Opera (Florida) is currently accepting applications for its winter 2017 Apprentice Artists Program (January 10-March 26). After completing its 28 year-long Verdi Cycle last season, the company turns its attention to works never previously performed on its stage. For winter 2017, these operas are Poulenc’s DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES and Rossini’s THE ITALIAN GIRL IN ALGIERS. The season is rounded out by Puccini’s MADAMA BUTTERFLY and Montemezzi’s THE LOVE OF THREE KINGS. In addition to performance opportunities, Apprentice Artists participate in coachings and masterclasses. Auditions are held in Sarasota, Chicago, and New York.
