How do I reduce the size of an image

For server performance and storage, we restrict the size of images that can be uploaded. We understand that some users may have images that exceed the 1MB limit and so we ask that before uploading, you resize your image.  We also highly recommend you utilize this tool when send your headshots to companies directly via email - their mailboxes will thank you!

There are many tools that can help resize images, some of which are listed below. We have not tested, nor do we endorse these products.

• Resize Images - free online conversion (works best in Firefox or Safari)
• Google's Picasa
• Free Picture Resize Starter
• Adobe Photoshop ($)
• GIMP

If you choose to use the free online conversion link we've mentioned, the steps to shrink your photo are as follows:

1. Scroll to the Resize Images section of the home page
2. Next to the Choose Picture or Photo to Shrink textbox, click browse and find your headshot
3. Select the Custom radio button, set max size to 1000 and click Resize.
4. Click the Download this picture Now link above the photo to save the smaller version. 

That's it!  Please also be sure to resize any photos you include on your resume using one of these tools.  Clicking and dragging the photo itself will not actually reduce it; you must do so before copying and pasting it onto the resume.
