Vulcan Lyric (formerly the Center City Opera Theater) has gained an international reputation for its commitment to develop new work, new audiences and new artists. Its Young Artist Program is central to its activities, and the focus of our Young Artist Program is on performance opportunities as well as advanced training oppportunities. All participants will sing roles in our productions, as well as have opportunities to perform in our outreach programs, and new works mini-festival.
This summer's festival runs July 6 to August 16, 2015
A premium is placed on performers who can communicate both through their singing, acting and communication abilities. All artists will have the opportunity to work with regional and nationally recognized conductors, coaches and directors during their time in Philadelphia.
Vulcan Lyric's summer festival includes the the world premiere of Jeff Myer's & Royce Vavrek's Maren of Vardo:Satan's Bride, Cipullo's Glory Denied, a new Musical Theater show, and Catans's La hija de Rappaccini, plus our First Look mini-festival performances of upcoming new works.
The cost for this summer's six-week program is $1000. Limited scholarships are available.
All applicants will be granted an audition, either in person or via video application.
