Opera Birmingham will be holding auditions in New York City on October 11-13, 2017, including a limited number of slots for non-managed artists interested in roles in future seasons. Please note: Agents will receive an audition notice in early summer for these auditions; managed artists should submit their materials through their agent (not though YAP Tracker).
These auditions will be for the 2018-2019 season, with plans for a chamber opera or concert performance in January 2019, and a mainstage production in March 2019. Repertoire is still in flux, so these will be general auditions; operas under consideration include (but is not limited to) Tosca, Trovatore, La Cenerentola, Pearl Fishers, Madame Butterfly, Glory Denied, Galileo Galilei (Glass), and Gilbert and Sullivan (Pirates of Penzance or Mikado). (Please note: All principal artists have been cast for the 2017-2018 season.)
Requests for auditions must be submitted through YAP Tracker’s online application. In addition to your resume and headshot, artists should submit recordings of two contrasting arias recorded in the last two years.
Applications are due by September 1, and all applicants will be notified of our scheduling decisions by September 8 at the latest.
