Opera Birmingham Auditions 2017-2018

Opera Birmingham will be holding auditions in New York City on September 29, and October 3 and 4, 2016, including slots for non-managed artists interested in roles in future seasons.

These auditions will be for the 2017-2018 season, with plans for a chamber opera or concert performance in January 2018, and a mainstage production in March 2018. Repertoire is still in flux, so these will be general auditions; under consideration includes Romeo and Juliet, Dead Man Walking, Pearl Fishers, Madame Butterfly, Susannah, Glory Denied and The Tragedy of Carmen. (Please note: All principal artists have been cast for the 2016-2017 season.)

Requests for auditions must be submitted through YAP Tracker’s online application. In addition to your resume and headshot, artists should submit recordings of two contrasting arias recorded in the last two years.

Applications are due by August 15, 2016, and all applicants will be notified of our scheduling decisions by August 31 at the latest.
