Ohio Light Opera Vocal Application 2018

This application closed on Friday November 24, 2017.

Please complete the following application. As part of the application you will have an opportunity to upload recordings. Applications will be screened and not all applicants will be invited to the in-person audition. We highly recommend you upload at least two vocal selections as part of this application to assist in the screening process. A non-refundable application fee of $40 is required of all applicants EXCEPT those who were part of the 2017 season and faculty/staff and students of the College of Wooster. Past company members and students/staff should contact the audition coordinator for information on how to complete this application without paying the fee. Applications are due no later than one week before your selected audition date though we will begin assigning live auditions in early October.

Audition Information

If selected for a live audition we will use this information in planning your audition.

Vocal artists should indicate the selections they anticipate performing if selected for an audition. It is strongly recommended that you adhere to your selections. If they should change you may simply announce the new selections at the time of your audition

Vocal selections you plan to present at the audition

Those selected to audition are asked to prepare two selections: One opera aria of the vocalist's choice and one selection from the operetta/musical theatre genre. It is preferable for any musical theatre selection to be chosen from shows written prior to the 1950s. All audition material cannot go over 10-minutes and applicants should make sure that appropriate cuts are made to their presentation material to fit the 10-minute audition time frame.

Monologue selection you plan to present at the audition

Those selected to audition must also prepare a one minute memorized monologue preferably from the lyric theater repertoire.

Pre-screening Video or Audio

Vocal artists are chosen for the season based on a live, invited audition. We are unable to offer a live audition to every applicant. Although optional we STRONGLY encourage applicants to upload two contrasting selections here to aid in the screening process. At least one selection should be in English. Please upload each selection as a separate file, either audio or video selections are acceptable. After review of all submitted applications, those selected for an audition will be notified (by e-mail) of their assigned audition time.
