Live Audition Dates

In December 2024, selected applicants will be invited to the live auditions at the Mascarade Opera Foundation in Florence, Italy on Friday 7 February and Saturday 8 February 2025. Over these two days, the selected singers will participate in workshops, coachings and study sessions; the selected répétiteurs, meanwhile, will be given an audition time on one of these two days. In the evening on Saturday 8 February 2025, a number of the singers will be confirmed as the finalists and will be invited to perform in a public aria concert on Sunday 9 February 2025 in front of a panel of our partner opera houses and agency partners. Directly after that concert, the singers who are to be offered places on the programme will be announced. All other candidates, both the final round répétiteurs and the singers who are not selected to perform in the concert, are welcome to stay in Florence for this concert on Sunday 9 February 2025 but are not obliged to do so. Financial support is available up to a capped sum per artist to cover the cost of travel for the live auditions depending how far an artist needs to travel and how many nights they need to stay in Florence.
Auditionees will be asked to prepare the following: Singers must offer three arias in different languages, one of which must be in Italian, and one which must include some recitative style delivery, as well as two songs. Répétiteurs will need to prepare a solo piano piece or movement of approximately 5 minutes in duration and the following two opera scenes: G. Puccini - La bohème, Act I Opening to entrance of Benoit and W. A. Mozart - Così fan tutte, Act I Scene 1. You will be asked to play while singing in the vocal lines. You will also be given some sight reading.
