Deadline: Thursday October 31, 2024

Inaugurated during the 2006/07 season, the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program is designed to support the future of opera by discovering and developing the talents of exceptionally gifted young artists to become artists of potentially international stature. LA Opera uses its resources to provide extensive training for the young artists and also gives them the opportunity to further develop their skills by serving on music staff for mainstage productions, and performing in young artist concerts and productions.

The Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program's training component includes individualized courses for each artist in the areas of musical coaching and language studies. Artists with experience or an interest in conducting are also encouraged to apply. The artists work with LA Opera Music Director James Conlon, members of the LA Opera music staff, and with guest coaches.

In addition to joining the music staff of LA Opera, alumni of the program have worked at prominent houses such as the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Seattle Opera, New York City Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, English National Opera and the Australian Opera.

Please note: this application is for pianists only.
