Houston Grand Opera (HGOco) Opera to Go! Auditions (2017-18)

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Houston Grand Opera's Opera to Go!

Auditions will be Thursday, May 11 & Sunday, May 14 (concurrent with auditions for HGO Chorus).

Our season features two productions: August 28 - December 15, 2017 & January 9 - May 18, 2018.

We present high-energy operas at schools, libraries, and community centers in fully-staged, 45-minute performances. The Fall semester tour of Hansel and Gretel will feature four singers (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Baritone, and flexible voice part casting for the Witch) and the Spring semester tour of a brand new commision from Kamala Sankaram and David Johnston will also feature 4 singers (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Tenor, Baritone/Bass). Performances are sung in English and are designed especially for today's audiences throughout the Houston area, including some overnight touring to surrounding areas in Texas. We are eager to cast singers that reflect the diverse communities of Houston.

Not all applicants are guaranteed an audition and all auditions must be done live in Houston.

We will also be listening for potential participants in our other HGOco programing.
