NOTE: THIS APPLICATION IS FOR SINGERS ONLY.

We will be holding our annual live audition tour in New York City, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Houston. In addition, we will again offer video auditions. We encourage live auditions whenever possible, but welcome those who are not available or unable to sing in-person at one of our audition locations to apply for a video audition. Steps are outlined below to guide your understanding of our live audition process, followed by information about our video audition process.

Applicants who are granted a video audition will be required to record and submit two selections in one continuous video recording (without stopping the camera). Repertoire for video auditions will be selected by the singer. Guidelines for repertoire selection and video production will be provided.

Video applicants should apply using the form below in the same manner as live audition applicants, indicating “Virtual Audition” in the drop-down menus for location.

Step 2: Notifications of live auditions for Glimmerglass will be sent as follows:

New York City, Philadelphia, Houston, and Cincinnati auditions: notifications sent by Friday, September 22.

Video auditions: notifications sent by Friday, September 22.

Step 3: Attend your live audition.

VIDEO AUDITIONS

Step 1: Apply to The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program via the form below and select ‘Video Audition’ under ‘Preferred Audition Location’. Applications are due Sunday, September 10.

Step 2: Notifications of video auditions will be sent by Friday, September 22. This notification will contain new instructions to submit your second audition video.

Step 3: Record a new video audition and submit via YAP Tracker by Friday, October 13.

Please upload 2-5 videos; 1 must be an opera aria and the others may be opera, art song, musical theater, etc. of your choice. The videos must be no more than 12 months old.

Audition Selections*

Preliminary audition repertoire must show a variety of styles and be offered in at least three different languages including English. Operetta and oratorio arias are acceptable.
- 3 opera arias
- 1 musical theater piece
- 5th selection can be another aria, art song, or other piece of your choice
If you are interested in a role or cover in a particular production in the 2024 season, you are welcome (but not required) to prepare a piece from that work.
